Mr Tan is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with a special interest in Colorectal Cancers and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. His NHS practice is based in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust; Emergency surgery is performed at Royal Victoria Hospital and elective surgery including bowel cancers, inflammatory bowel disease and treatment of perianal conditions (haemorrhoids, pain, fissures, fistula) is at Belfast City Hospital

After graduating in medicine from the University of London in 2003, he has completed extensive surgical training in Northern Ireland, London and East of England. He then gained further sub-specialty training in Colorectal surgery when he completed a Colorectal Fellowship in Perth, Western Australia.

Mr Tan provides care in all aspects of colorectal surgery and is a believer in personalised surgical care for each of his patients; putting the patient at the centre of all investigations and treatments to achieve the best outcomes for each patient. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) and a member of the Association of Coloproctology Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI), the national professional body representing health care professionals treating colorectal diseases in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
